  1. ^ Certain award groups do not simply award one winner. They acknowledge several different recipients, have runners-up, and have third place. Since this is a specific recognition and is different from losing an award, runner-up mentions are considered wins in this award tally. For simplification and to avoid errors, each award in this list has been presumed to have had a prior nomination.

A Real Pain is a 2024 buddy comedy-drama film written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg, and produced in collaboration between Poland and the United States. Eisenberg stars opposite Kieran Culkin as two mismatched Jewish American cousins who travel to Poland in an attempt to honor their late grandmother. Will Sharpe, Jennifer Grey, Kurt Egyiawan, Liza Sadovy, and Daniel Oreskes also star in the film.

A Real Pain first premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2024, where Eisenberg's script won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award.[1] Searchlight Pictures acquired the film shortly after in an all-night auction and it competed in several film festivals in Europe,[2] such as the Valladolid International Film Festival and the Zurich Film Festival.[3][4] The film later enjoyed a limited theatrical release in the United States on November 1, 2024.[5]

Met with critical acclaim, A Real Pain was praised for its direction, screenplay, performances (especially Culkin's), and emotional weight.[6][7] It was named one of the top ten films of 2024 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute. Culkin became the third actor in history to win Best Supporting Performance honors from the four most prestigious American film critics associations: the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the National Board of Review, the National Society of Film Critics, and the New York Film Critics Circle.[8] A Real Pain received four nominations at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, where Culkin won Best Supporting Actor.
