Lex Paeshuyse (born 6 September 2011) is a Belgian youth darts player who currently plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. In the first year of his international career he became JDC World Darts Champion and winner of the World Masters boys event.[2][3]
Career
[edit]Paeshuyse made a strong entrance into youth tournaments in 2022, quickly finding success by winning multiple titles and defeating top-ranked players in various open competitions. In 2023, he reached the final of the youth event at the Belgium Open and represented his country in the Four Nations Cup, where he captured the boys' singles title.[4]
The young player is aiming for a spot in the JDC World Cup of Darts and the JDC World Darts Championship later this year, and has already secured his debut appearance at the 2024 World Masters. He passed through the group stage of the youth tournament without any problems, and in the knock-out phase he twice achieved an average of over 90 points. In the semi-finals he faced Matyáš Rejhon, whom he easily defeated. In the final, he left no doubts to his rival Mason Teese, achieving an incredible success for his age, winning the boys' tournament. On the same day, he qualified for the WDF World Darts Championship in the boys' competition.[5][6][7]
In his debut quarter-finals match on the 2024 WDF World Darts Championship against Ralfs Laumanis, he played fourth average of the tournament, reaching 92.81 in a two-set match. In the semi-final match he lost to the eventual winner Archie Self. In the same month, he won the JDC World Darts Championship and being the youngest player to win this title. On 21 December 2024, Paeshuyse defeated Daniel Stephenson 5–1 in the final match.[8][9]
