Jemma Lauren Carlton (born November 1996) is an English actress. She made her debut in the titular role of the Channel 5 true crime drama Maxine (2022). She has since appeared in the Sky Atlantic series Lockerbie: A Search for Truth (2024).

Early life

Carlton was born in Cheltenham and grew up in Stafford.[2][3] She graduated from Rose Bruford College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Acting.[4] She was shortlisted for the 2019 Alan Bates Award, given to graduating actors.[5]

Her stage performances include Hester in The Silver Cord by Sidney Howard[6][7] at The Finborough Theatre.

Screen

She made her screen debut as Maxine Carr in Channel 5 series Maxine in 2022.[8] In 2023, she appeared in the second series of Greg Davies comedy series The Cleaner on BBC One.[9]

In early 2025, she could be seen appearing alongside Colin Firth in British historical drama Lockerbie: A Search for Truth.[10] She will play Belle Downer in Steven Knight historical drama A Thousand Blows.[11][12]
