Georgia Shreve

Georgia Shreve is an American composer, writer, playwright, poet, and multimedia artist known for her interdisciplinary approach to the arts. With a career spanning over four decades, she has created more than 100 original compositions, plays, poems, and novels.[1]

Early life and education

From an early age, Shreve was immersed in the arts, directing plays by age eight and writing poetry by age ten.[1] She pursued higher education at several prestigious institutions, earning:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from Stanford University
  • A Master's Degree in Creative Writing from Brown University
  • A Master's Degree in Finance from Columbia University
  • A Master's Degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania

Additionally, she is in the process of completing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Columbia University.[1]

Shreve's compositions encompass a wide range of genres, including orchestral works, chamber music, and vocal pieces. Her music has been performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.[2] Notably, her semi-operatic oratorios, *Lavinia* and *Anna Komnene*, premiered at Alice Tully Hall in April 2022, featuring a 62-piece orchestra and an all-star cast.[1]

Shreve's literary works have been featured in publications like *The New Yorker*, *The New Republic*, and *The New Criterion*. She is the recipient of the Stanford Magazine Fiction Award.[3] Her recent poetry collection, *Messages Never Sent*, delves into themes of love, loss, and resilience.[1]

Shreve was one of the first female investment bankers, utilizing her finance degree to support her artistic passions.[5] She has three sons, all residing in New York, pursuing careers in business, mathematics, and music.[5]
