Florence Jeanblanc-Risler
Florence Jeanblanc-Risler (born 1957) is a French administrator and diplomat. She previously served as ambassador to New Zealand (2015–2018) and to Laos (2018–2020). In October 2022, she was appointed as prefect of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands.
Biography
[edit]Florence Jeanblanc-Risler was born in 1957 in Belfort, France.[1][2][3] She graduated from Sciences Po, then the École nationale d'administration in the mid-1980s.[4][5][6][7] In between, she obtained a master's degree in international relations from the University of South Carolina.[5][7]
After starting out in civil aviation, Jeanblanc-Risler worked extensively throughout her career for both France's Ministry of Economics and Finance and its Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.[4][5][7]
Jeanblanc-Risler's work included some 15 years spent in the Asia-Pacific region, including in Japan, South Korea, and Australia.[5] Notably, from 2015 to 2018, she served as France's ambassador to New Zealand.[1][3][4][7] She subsequently served as ambassador to Laos from 2018 to 2021.[4][5]
On October 5, 2022, she was appointed as the administrator or préfet of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands.[4] She took up her post on the island of Réunion that October 27.[5]
She is a knight of the French Legion of Honour.[5]
