Description
English: This image shows the dependence of the impact energy of a airsoft pellet on the distance of impact.

It was obtained by a numeric integration of the equations of motion of a spherical particle subject to quadratic air drag (Reynold number is about 23000) and gravity acceleration:

m = 0.2 g, diameter 6 mm, Drag equation was used with density of air of 1.204 kg/m^3 (at 20º C), drag coefficient of a sphere (0.47), g = 9.8 m/s^2.

The conditions of the numerical integration were:

x[0] = 0 // initial position in x (x axes) y[0] = 1.8 m // initial height (typical human) x'[0] = 120 m/s and 170 m/s y'[0] = 0

With the data obtained, the energy was plotted as a function of the distance for two typical pellets initial velocities when leaving the gun.
