Summary

Description
English: This painting depicting the guardian angel protecting a boy from the devil's snares with a shield - on canvas 94.5 x 120.5 cm - is undeniably original due to the signature DOM. ZAMPERIVS BONON F.A. MDCXV. Which is located at the bottom left on the base of a sculpted architectural block, secured as the work of the Bologna painter Domenico Zampieri - known as Domenichino. The hitherto unknown work is an art-historically significant supplement to the work of this painter that can be verified around 1615. In this newly found work, the echoes of Domenichino's first training by the Flame Denys Calvaert, who worked in Bologna, have combined with the elements of the treatment of the work obtained in Carracci's workshop to create a form of composition of his own. Vienna, April 1957
ZAMPERIVS BONON F.A. MDCXV.

ZAMPERIVS BONON F.A. MDCXV.

Vienna, aprile 1957
