The Why Ducks Sleep on One Leg Myth tells us what Vietnamese people thought was the reason to why ducks sleep standing up on one leg. The myth is as follows: There once were four ducks, each only had one leg. Every day, those four ducks were bullied by the normal two legged ducks. Every single day, the poor one legged ducks asked and asked God to give them a leg, then one day the four golden legs appeared for four one legged ducks. But the ducks had a sense of awareness and kept an eye on the little golden legs, but in fear of someone stealing them while they were asleep, they tucked them up, where the gold blended in with the feathers. At night, the other ducks noticed the awkward sleeping position, and copied, thinking it was the correct way of sleeping.
