Waya Boy, born Lukwago Tonny on September 4, 2001, in Lubaga Hospital, Kampala, Uganda, began his musical journey in his teenage years.[1] Inspired by African legends such as Fela Kuti and Miriam Makeba, he developed his craft, blending traditional rhythms with modern styles.[2][3]

Waya Boy's music career began with local performances in Kampala, Uganda. Influenced by Ugandan culture and international artists, he crafted a distinctive sound that blends Afro-pop, R&B, and soul.[4]

Waya Boy gained widespread recognition with the release of his debut single "Hullo," which resonated with listeners nationwide. His subsequent hit "Bujingo" solidified his position as a rising star in the Ugandan music scene.[5][6]

With emotive lyrics and soaring vocals, Waya Boy has captured the hearts of audiences in Uganda and beyond. His music showcases his Ugandan heritage and international appeal, blending Afro-pop, R&B, and soul.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Waya Boy persevered, demonstrating his dedication to his craft.[7] He has performed alongside renowned artists at major festivals, including the Kampala Art Biennale, Laba Arts Festival, and Nyege Nyege Festival.[8]
