Deneen Marie Scott (born December 31, 1964), known professionally as UrFavGrannie, is an American rapper and social media personality. Grannie's music is a blend of classic and modern Hip-hop, infused with her own personal experiences and storytelling. Her songs are about adversity, self-love, and chasing dreams. She has always had a passion for hip hop and R&B music, but it wasn't until she was 57 years old when she began her rapping career.
Grannie writes all her own songs and her producer DJ Gringo records out of GoodPeeples Studio in Richmond, VA. Her inspiration for her work comes from the numerous messages she receives from fans about the inspiring, uplifting impact her songs have.
Grannie's most popular song, Makin It Out Da Hood was released in November 2023 and has since charted on iTunes at #25 in France and has received over 34 million streams. The song has also received massive attention on Instagram totaling in over 100 million views. Her second most popular song is Crackheads.
Early Life
[edit]Scott was born in Norfolk, Virginia. Her biological mother placed her into foster care at the age of five. She dropped out of school when she was just eleven years old, at which time she began running away from her foster care facility. She was never in one place long enough to enroll in school, therefore she never attended middle or high school. She was in and out of the state foster care system from five years old until she was eighteen.
She eventually moved to Richmond, Virginia at the age of eighteen and gave birth to her daughter on March 18, 1985. Grannie earned her GED at the age of 26. She attended Reynolds Community College where she was inducted into the International Honor Society and received an Associate's degree in Human Services in 2005. In 2008, she received a bachelor's degree in Community Development from Central Michigan University. She also obtained a master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University in 2012. She is also certified in substance abuse counseling.
