Draft:Tres-2b

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tres-2b is an exoplanet orbiting the star GSC 03549-02811 located at approximately 750 light years away from the Earth. It is super far away from earth in a normal space ship it would take about 18,000 years!

Planet of eternal darkness

[edit]

Tres-2b is known as the "planet of eternal darkness." This is because the star's intense light heats Tres-2b to a temperature of more than 1,800° Fahrenheit—much too hot for ammonia clouds. Instead, its exotic atmosphere contains light-absorbing chemicals like vaporized sodium and potassium, or gaseous titanium oxide. It is also because it is super close to its star at about 3 million miles away. that might seem very far but that is about 33 million miles closer than mercury is to the sun.

Orbit

[edit]

We might be thinking that it's year could be like 45 earth days maximum. but you are wrong. It only takes approximately 2.47 days to complete a orbit around its star. You might be thinking I am talking about 1 day but I am saying 1 year. Another thing that is crazy is that it's day is the same as it's year. "The orbit was determined to be tilted by −9±12° from the stellar equator. The orbital direction was determined to be in the same direction as the star's rotation."

Stars affect

[edit]

The darkest planet ever discovered orbiting a star, this alien world is less reflective than coal. Inside its atmosphere, you'd be flying blind in the dark. Some scientists think an eerie deep red glow would emanate from its burning atmosphere. This happened to the planet overtime.

Discovery

[edit]

TrES-2b, which was discovered in August of 2006, is one of roughly 150 hot Jupiter planets known to exist outside our solar system. Astronomers are working to better understand the sometimes mysterious properties of these “dark” planets, from their mass to their orbital patterns to their atmospheric makeup.
