Draft:Treaty of Ghent (1556)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Treaty of Ghent of September 15, 1556 settled the dispute between Philip II of Spain and Octavian Farnese, Duke of Parma and Piacenza. Philip II conceded Piacenza to Octavian in exchange for amnesty for the lords who had murdered Octavian's father, Peter Louis Farnese. A garrison of Spanish soldiers occupied the fortress of Piacenza at the expense of the Duchy of Parma. In the summer of 1585, the citadel was returned to Parma.
