Shamra is a Pop Rock quintet from the NY/NJ/CT tristate area, active 1999 - present, known primarily from their 2003 placement of the band's DIY eight-track recording Paper Umbrella in the globally syndicated TV show, Dawson's Creek. With front-woman Carrie Bolger's airy and energetic delivery, the group found success in licensing its works to MTV and was an influential presence on the NY/NJ club scene, playing their uniquely refined artful pop metaphoric before crowds at clubs such as CBGB and Pianos, along with more intimate performances in coffee shops and cafes. Shamra released three LPs, including their debut effort Whatever Fits in 2003, their follow-up Frieze which arrived in 2004, and 2024's self-titled Shamra, a collection of remastered and previously unreleased songs.
