Santa's Magic Crystal is an upcoming animated Christmas fantasy adventure comedy film directed by Kari Juusonen and Rasmus A. Sivertsen, and screenplay by Tim Federle and Doug Langdale. The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Elizabeth Banks, Jack Black, Della Saba, Alan Kim, Micah Abbey, Ice Cube, Fiona Shaw, John Mulaney and Brian Cox.
Voice cast
[edit]- Timothée Chalamet as Yotan, the leader of the patrol and the main character of the series, sociable, helpful and humorous.
- Florence Pugh as Yaga, of elves and elves, sensitive and emotional.
- Elizabeth Banks as Jiffy, solidary squirrel, doesn't care about adventures.
- Jack Black as Basil, Santa's twin brother, 2 minutes younger.
- Della Saba as Didi, looks small and delicate, but is really strong.
- Alan Kim as Alpo, the smallest and most childish member of the patrol, the ability to turn invisible.
- Micah Abbey as Smoo, technology and computer expert.
- Ice Cube as Reindeer, Red Caps patrol driver, eternal optimist.
- Fiona Shaw as Maya, takes care of Santa's well-being.
- John Mulaney as Grouch, Basil's faithful and loyal servant.
- Brian Cox as Santa Claus, Korvatunturi's wise and kind host.
Production
[edit]In November 2024, it was announced that an animated film based on The Magic Crystal would be the first project produced by Cinematic, Anima Vitae, Qvisten Animation, GunHil, Fleng Entertainment and Astrid Lindgren Company. In February 2025, Netflix acquired the distribution rights from GFM Animation for $10 million for a release date of December 19, 2025.
Casting
[edit]In May 2025, Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Elizabeth Banks, Jack Black, Della Saba, Alan Kim, Micah Abbey, Ice Cube, Fiona Shaw, John Mulaney and Brian Cox had been cast in the film.
Music
[edit]It was announced that Brian Tyler would compose the score for Santa's Magic Crystal.
Release
[edit]Santa's Magic Crystal will be released by Netflix on December 19, 2025.
Video game
[edit]A video game based on the film is reportedly set to be released on December 19, 2025.
Future

[edit]Alongside the film sequel announcement in December 2025, a two-season 3D animated television series follow-up for Netflix, titled Red Caps, was announced. Anttu Harlin and Joonas Utti were announced as executive producers and showrunners, respectively. It is set to premiere on December 25, 2026.
