Sanjeev Jaiswal (born April 7, 1972) is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1996 Maharashtra cadre. He currently serves as the Vice President & CEO of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).[1]
Life and education
[edit]Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, Jaiswal completed his schooling at St. Paul's Boarding School, Kolkata, and his higher secondary education at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Political Science from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.
Career
[edit]Jaiswal has held several positions during his career. As Municipal Commissioner of Thane (2015–2020), he Oversaw urban development initiatives, including road widening,[2] metro connectivity plans,[3] and inland water transport projects[4] , Doubling the city's green cover[5] and the Gaimukh Water Development Project.[6] He also launched "Digithane" a smart city platform for citizen services.[7]
During his tenure as Additional Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) (2020–2021),he worked in COVID-19 pandemic by overseeing the establishment of Jumbo COVID Centers[8] As Principal Secretary, Water Supply & Sanitation (2021–2023), he oversaw the implementation of the Maharashtra Jal Jeevan Mission[9]
Currently, he serves as Vice President & CEO of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), where he leads efforts to expand affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and redevelop Mumbai's aging housing stock.[10]
