Draft:Sambucha
Submission declined on 22 November 2024 by Bonadea (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject.

Sam Beres (born June 14, 1996), known online as Sambucha, is an American YouTuber recognized for his viral YouTube shorts and long-form content. He launched his YouTube channel on January 2, 2020[4], and released his first video, titled Wikipedia Speedrun, on January 22, 2021. Beres gained widespread popularity by reaching 1 million subscribers later that same year.
His channel features a variety of short-form videos, including "Would You Rather" questions, debates on whether things are underrated or overrated, and various reaction videos.[5] Beres has stated several times that he is a gaming channel, and has been classified by YouTube as one. He has appeared in Ludwig's 2024 "Streamer Games" on Team YouTube. His most viewed video is "Can I Draw A Perfect Circle?". As of September 2024, he had 8.17 million subscribers and 2.5 thousand videos on YouTube, and his most viewed YouTube short was "100 Years of Men".
Early life and education
[edit]Sam Beres was born in a small town in New Jersey and grew up alongside three sisters. He attended college in New York City, where he studied finance and management. During his time in New York, Beres developed an interest in geography, inspired by the diverse cultures and individuals he encountered while studying. This interest later played a role in his success with the online geography game, GeoGuessr. He graduated with honors and went on to work in finance on Wall Street before transitioning to content creation.
Prior to his YouTube career, Beres was active on other platforms, including Twitch and TikTok. He initially worked at a bank before deciding to pursue social media full-time.[6][7] His YouTube channel, Sambucha, became known for both its short-form and long-form content, spanning topics such as gaming, education, fitness, and general entertainment.
YouTube career
[edit]Beres created his YouTube channel on January 1, 2020, and posted his first video, "Wikipedia Speedrun," on January 22, 2021.[8] His channel gained popularity with his unique short-form content, which includes humorous takes on various topics, GeoGuessr gameplay, reaction videos, and challenges. By the end of 2021, his channel had already surpassed one million subscribers.[3] Prior to being active on YouTube, Beres was active on Twitch and TikTok.[7]
Beres's channel has become known for its engaging community, with comment sections often filled with the humorous "Sam is the type of guy to..." copypastas.[9]
Beres has received recognition mainly from the short videos that he uploads, which are essentially videos of him reacting to certain things. He then moved on to uploading videos completing Scattergories runs (consisting of every letter of the alphabet), if something is underrated or overrated, his favorite foods, patterns studied in human behavior, stats about other countries, and similar topics.
Beres's YouTube videos are long-form. In his lengthier videos, he uploads a wide variety of content, such as gaming (specifically GeoGuessr), reactions, challenges, Wikipedia speedruns, and miscellaneous videos.
At some point in 2022, Beres spoke at a VidSummit conference.
Alternate channels
[edit]On May 3, 2021, Beres created a second channel named Sam2cha, where he had uploaded long-form videos. He later stopped uploading on his second channel and has maintained a steady upload schedule regarding both short and long-form content on his main channel.
Beres also runs the channels SIKE and TacoTruckMan9, many copies of which have been made.
Other platforms
[edit]His Instagram handle is @sambuchalul and his Twitter handle is @sambucha.
Personal life
[edit]Beres is engaged[10]and currently resides in New Jersey, having previously lived in New York City for six years. His travels have taken him to countries such as Japan, Italy, Morocco, and Czechia.[11] He is a devout Catholic and owns a cocker spaniel named Bruno.[12][13]
Beres has not disclosed much about his personal life, and his other siblings and parents have not been disclosed. His younger sister, Sophie, has a custom shoe business called brushedbysophh.
