Síntese - Grupo de Música Contemporânea is a Portuguese contemporary chamber music ensemble. Founded in 2007, after working as an informal group since 2006, it has become one of the most active groups in Portugal. [1][2] It has since premiered more than 60 works, mostly as a result of commissions to Portuguese composers such has António Pinho Vargas, Pedro Amaral, João Pedro Oliveira, Eduardo Patriarca, Carlos Marecos, Christopher Bochmann, Amílcar Vasques Dias, Ângela Lopes, José Carlos Sousa, Hugo Vasco Reis, Tiago Derriça, Anne Victorino de Almeida, Fernando C. Lapa, António Chagas Rosa, Vasco Mendonça, Sara Carvalho, Sérgio Azevedo, Nuno Côrte-Real, Cândido Lima, Ângela da Ponte, Solange Azevedo and César Viana, among others. [3]
It has also been organizing the Síntese contemporary music festival which, by 2024, reached its 18th edition. [4][5][6]
The group has been promoting Portuguese contemporary music in other countries like Brazil [7][8], Spain [9][10], France [11], or Czech Republic [12], among others.
