The "Queer Christmas Market", this new, non-traditional LGBTQ-type of a Christmas Market was inaugurated in 2005 with the "Pink Christmas Market" in Munich "as an idea from the queer community". "The pink pleasure combines the needs of this specific audience with the traditional values of a Christmas market.".[1]
Subsequently the idea spread out through other German cities such as Berlin,[2] Hamburg[3] and Frankfurt[4].
Then Queer Christmas Markets of 1 or 2 days were founded in other European cities such as London[5] and Paris[6]
and worldwide e.g. in Saint Paul, Minnesota [7] or in Singapore[8]
