The Pasir Kelang ferry service is the youngest ferry service that operated at Kuala Krai, Kelantan, Malaysia. The ferry started operation in 2010s. Residents in Kuala Krai use the ferry as their main means of transport to connect them with nearby towns. The ferry operated from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. In 2 December 2021, The strong current of the Kelantan River, caused the ferry service to temporarily stop its operation and was replaced by boat transport.

Bridge Project
[edit]Almost 15,000 residents in eight villages here only depend on ferries or boats to get to the city of Kuala Krai since decades ago. The villages include Kampung Pengkalan Pasir Baru, Kampung Pengkalan Pasir Lama, Kampung Bahagia, Kampung Buyong Darul Hijrah, Kampung Sungai Taku, Kampung Taku Estet and Kampung Sokor.[2]
Residents claim that their daily activities are affected when the ferry is often broken down and cannot operate during high water, especially during the monsoon season.
There is also a land road but it is quite far and takes almost two hours, if you want to go to Kuala Krai city considering that the route has to go through Tanah Merah first, compared to using the ferry which only takes a few minutes.
Therefore, the residents urged that the construction of the bridge connecting from Kampung Pasir Era to Kampung Pasir Kelang, started last year, can be completed according to the set schedule.
In August last year, the Ministry of Rural Development approved the construction of a 100-metre long bridge spanning the Kelantan River, which is expected to take three years to complete at a cost of approximately RM30 million or 6,912.17 USD.
Kelantan River
[edit]The Kelantan River is a major river in Kelantan, Malaysia. Its drainage basin is about 11,900 km²[1] in northeast Malaysia, including part of the Taman Negara, and flows northwards into the South China Sea. The rainfall over the area varies between 0 mm in the dry season (March–May) to 1,750 mm in the monsoon season (November–January). The average runoff from the area is about 500 m³/s.
