Pala Pothupitiye or Somapala Pothupitiya (Sinhala: පාල පොතුපිටිය ; born 1972) contemporary artist recognized for his contributions by being awarded with the Sovereign Asian Art Prize in 2010.[1]

Pothupitiye's artistic practice incorporates traditional beadwork and costume-making techniques native to southern Sri Lanka.[2]

His work often explores themes such as cartography,[3] historical narratives, nationalism, religious extremism,[4] and social hierarchies, including the caste system.[5]
