Michael Craig (born August 11, 1991) is a professional basketball player from the United States. His position is power forward, and he currently plays for Shinagawa City Basketball Club in the Japanese B.League.

Early Life

His parents are Michael and Nerissa Craig. [1] He was born on August 11, 1991. His major is Interdisciplinary Studies.

Precision High School

Under the guidance of head coach Killy Mims, he led the team to a 23-6 record and won the Arizona Class 2A State Championship. During his senior season, he averaged 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game. He was named to the 1A-3A All-State First Team by the Arizona Republic newspaper.

Arizona Western Community College (2009-10)

In the 2009-10 season, he played under head coach Kelly Green. He helped lead the team to a 24-8 record. He ranked second on the team with an average of 9.7 points per game and led the team with 3.6 assists per game. He also recorded averages of 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while achieving a field goal percentage of 62.7% (126 out of 201 attempts).

South Mountain Community College (2010-12)

He played under head coach Dan Nichols at South Mountain Community College. He helped lead the team to a 26-9 record, a District 1 Championship victory, and a berth in the NJCAA Division II Tournament. He earned NJCAA First Team All-American honors. Additionally, he was named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) Player of the Year and selected for the First Team All-Conference. He was also chosen for the First Team All-Region 1.

University of Southern Mississippi (2012-14)

In the 2012-13 season, He missed the final 13 games of the season due to a foot injury but still managed to average 9.0 points and 5.1 rebounds, with a field goal percentage of 58.3%. Against Western Kentucky (11/10/2012): Scored 13 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and recorded 3 steals. Against UC Irvine (11/20/2012): Registered a season-high 21 points along with 8 rebounds. Against Louisiana Tech (12/8/2012): Tallied 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. Against Grambling State (12/15/2012): Recorded 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Against UAB (2/2/2013): Achieved his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He averaged 22.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 3.3 steals per game, leading his team. On February 22, he was named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week after averaging 30.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 9.0 assists during the period, including a triple-double (31 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists) in a game against Pima Community College. In 2012, he also participated in the NJCAA National All-Star Game.

In the 2013-14 Season,He appeared in 33 games, starting 24 of them. He averaged 11.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.[2]

Reno Bighorns / G League (2015)

Michael Craig joined the Reno Bighorns in the NBA Development League in 2015.[3]

Rayos de Hermosillo / Mexico (2016)

In 2016, Michael Craig joined the Rayos de Hermosillo in Mexico's CIBACOPA league. He played in 54 games and led the league in assists (298) and points (1252).[4]

Seoul Samsung Thunders / South Korea (2016–17)

Played for the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League during the 2016-17 season. On December 30, 2016, achieved a triple-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. On January 22, 2017, won the foreign player division of the Dunk Contest at the All-Star Game. The team advanced to the finals, and Craig ranked 6th in the league for average assists.

TNT Tropang Texters / Philippines (2017)

In 2017, Michael Craig transferred to the TNT Tropang Texters in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), where he played in three games.[5]

Seoul Samsung Thunders / South Korea (2017-18)

On May 31, 2017, Michael Craig re-signed with the Seoul Samsung Thunders.[6] In August 2017, Craig was replaced by Markeith Cummings.[7][8]

Faraones de Nuevo Casas Grandes / Mexico (2019)

In 2019, Michael Craig played for the Faraones de Nuevo Casas Grandes in Mexico's LBE (Liga de Baloncesto Estatal).

Tokyo Cinq Reves / B3 League (2020)

In January 2020, Michael Craig joined the Tokyo Cinq Reves in the B3 League. [9] That season, he played in 14 games, averaging 24.4 points and 7.3 assists per game.

Tokyo Excellence / B3 League (2020-21)

In September 2020, Michael Craig transferred to the Tokyo Excellence in the B3 League. During the 2020-21 season, he was crowned the league's assist leader with an average of 7.21 assists per game and was selected for the annual Best Five.[10]

Aomori Watts / B2 League (2021)

In July 2021, Michael Craig transferred to the Aomori Watts in the B.LEAGUE B2. He played in 10 games but had his contract terminated in November of the same year.[11]

Kyoto Hannaries / B1 League (2021)

In December of the same year, Michael Craig joined the Kyoto Hannaryz in the B.LEAGUE B1. He played in 4 games but suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon and left the team in the same month.[12]

Tokyo United / B3 League (2022-24)

In July 2022, Michael Craig moved to Tokyo United Basketball Club, a new entrant in the B3 League. During the 2022-23 season, he served as the vice-captain and achieved his second B3 assist title with an average of 6.54 assists per game. He was also selected for the annual Best Five for the second time.[13]

Shinagawa City / B3 League (2024-)

In June 2024, Michael Craig announced his transfer to Shinagawa City Basketball Club in the B3 League. [14] [15] On November 22, 2024, during the match in Saitama, he achieved a total of 300 successful 3-point shots in his B.League career.

Michael Craig is currently a member of Shinagawa City in the B3 League.
