Looka is a Canada-based software company that specializes in AI-powered branding tools, including logo creation, brand kits, and website building. The company was founded in 2016 by Dawson Whitfield to support small businesses and entrepreneurs in developing brand identities.

History

[edit]

Looka was founded in 2016 by Dawson Whitfield as Logojoy.[1] The company initially focused on providing automated logo design services using artificial intelligence. In 2019, the company rebranded to Looka to reflect its broader suite of branding tools.[2]

Following the rebrand, Looka experienced significant financial challenges, with revenue reportedly dropping by half. In 2020, the company laid off 80 percent of its staff to manage costs.[3] Looka adjusted its strategy following these setbacks, eventually returning to profitability.[4]

Products

[edit]

Looka’s primary product is its AI-powered logo maker, which allows users to design and customize logos through an automated process.[5]

In 2020, Looka introduced its brand kit offering, which provides templates for business cards, social media profiles, email signatures, and other branded assets.[6] The company has also expanded into website creation with an AI website builder, aimed at helping small businesses establish an online presence.[7]
