Leonard G. Brown, III is a judge on the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania.[1] He was elected in 2011 and retained in 2021. [2] [3] In 2024, Judge Brown was elected President Judge of the 2nd Judicial District of Pennsylvania, Lancaster County.[4]
Education
[edit]Brown graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a bachelor or science degree in Economics. [5] He earned his juris doctorate degree from Campbell University School of Law, magna cum laude. [5]
Career
[edit]Brown served on active duty in the United States Army in the United States Corps of Engineers. [6]After graduating from law school he clerked for the United States District Judge Malcolm J. Howard in the Eastern District of North Carolina.[6] Brown worked as an attorney prior to being elected judge.
Notable Cases
[edit]In a February 25, 2019 decision, Brown reversed the expulsion of a student from Manheim Township High School for creating memes of another student on SnapChat.[7] The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania affirmed his decision in a 6-1 opinion filed on November 17, 2021. [8] In November 2024, Brown entered judgement of $138 million against an ATM network accused of not paying investors. [9]
