The Kashmir Advocates' Association (KAA) is a professional body representing lawyers in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established to advocate for the interests of legal professionals in the region of Jammu and Kashmir..[1][2][3]
Recognition and Significance
[edit]In June 2024, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh officially recognized the KAA under Section 58 of the Advocates Act 1961. This recognition marks the KAA as the first and only bar association in the region to receive such formal acknowledgment . The formal status granted to the KAA distinguishes it from the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA), which has faced scrutiny for its alleged lack of registration and accusations of promoting secessionist views[4]
Leadership
[edit]The leadership of the KAA includes Advocate Waseem Gul as President, Advocate Mubashir Majid Malik as Vice-President, Jeetender Singh as General Secretary, and Adil Muneer Andrabi as Joint Secretary[3][5]
Challenges and Future Outlook
KAA faces challenges in a region marked by complexities[6]and legal hurdles[7]
