Jet van Wijk is a Dutch author and business coach known for her work in digital marketing and freelancing. She is the founder of the Laptop Lifestyle Master Program and the author of What Influence, a book that explores the challenges and impacts of the influencer industry on mental health. Van Wijk also coauthored the 2024 best-seller "Women Gone WILD! Intuition Edition".
Life and career
[edit]Van Wijk was born in Winschoten, Groningen, Netherlands, and later moved to Hurdegaryp.[1] She studied International Hospitality Management at Stenden University in Leeuwarden and completed part of her studies in Bali and Bangkok.[2][3][4][5]
She started her professional career in hospitality, interning at Hilton Hotels in London. Van Wijk later transitioned into digital marketing.[6][7][8][9]
In 2017, she founded JVW Agency, a social media and marketing firm.[10][11][12][13]
In 2020, van Wijk launched the Laptop Lifestyle Master Program, aimed at coaching individuals build online businesses and transition into freelancing.[14][15][16]
In 2021, van Wijk published What Influence, a book that explores the influencer industry and its impact on mental health. The book was written based on her own experiences as an influencer and travel blogger.[17][18][19] She also coauthored the 2024 best-seller "Women Gone WILD! Intuition Edition" with Rhonda Swan.[20][21][22][23]
In July 2024, van Wijk was a guest speaker at the TEDxAyala Avenue Women event, where she delivered a talk titled "How Influencers Suffer Conformity", discussing the intersection of digital entrepreneurship and mental health.[24][13][4][25]
Van Wijk advocates for an authentic approach to social media, telling Forbes that “social media conformity represents a dangerous trend, where people…feel pressured to conform to certain online behaviors and lifestyles…as an ex-influencer, I’ve witnessed first-hand the negative impact this can have on mental health and personal identity.”[26]
Van Wijk has been featured as a digital marketing expert on various TV shows, including FOX San Diego, Pix 11, and ANC Business Roadshow. She has also appeared on internet-based platforms like the Rock the Stage Show.[27][28]
