Jeevan Vigyan Foundation
[edit]Jeevan Vigyan Foundation (JVF) was established in 2011 as a non-profit or non-governmental organization in Kathmandu, Nepal, with the mission to guide individuals or seekers on a path of personal and spiritual growth. The organization's founders are, late Mrs. Basanti Nepal, Mr. Ramesh Nepal and Mr. L P Bhanu Sharma. Mrs. Nepal, wife of Mr. Ramesh Nepal, left for eternal reunion with the Almighty soon after the launching of foundation which as the name means the Science of Living.[1]
Ever since the grounding of the organization for the benefit, Mr. Nepal and Mr. Sharma have remained the sole duo of life coaches and spiritual masters (popularly called satgurus or simply gurus. They have been spiritually leading the organization together with those practitioners of JVF’s teachings as individual beneficiaries and spiritual seekers. The duo spiritual masters at different times during their practices called sadhana attained self-realization or enlightenment and began to spread their knowledge and practices to the common people. Self-realization has been defined by Paramahamsa Yogananda as below.
"The knowing—in body, mind, and soul—that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it come to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God's omnipresence is our omnipresence; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is improve our knowing."
This definition comes out of the teachings of one of the greatest enlightened masters who connected the spirituality in the oriental and occidental seekers as his divine goal with the practice of Kriya Yoga.
Location
[edit]The headquarters and the main center of the education of the foundation is located in Ganesh Maarg, Chabahil, Kathmandu, Nepal.[2] It has various domestic satellite practice centers called Prayogshala (laboratory) that provide yoga and meditation courses in various parts of Nepal. Well trained and dedicated trainers manage the Prayogshalas or centers that provide free daily practices to interested participants. In addition, JVF has trained hundreds of schoolteachers and physical training or sports masters from both government and private schools to teach yoga and meditation to students. JVF believes that spiritual education should go hand in hand with material education for all-round development of an individual.
Since JVF spiritual education began to find eager learners and practitioners outside Nepal, it opened its doors to outreach through the practitioners and those trained in Nepal to teach others but living abroad in North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Australia.
The outreach began with the initiative of followers and practitioners of Jeevan Vigyan courses in the United States and Canada after consultation with the two founders cum spiritual masters Mr. Nepal and Mr. Sharma. It established the second head office in the state of Virginia in the US in 2020 [3]. Similarly, JV enthusiasts have established another international center in the United Kingdom in 2021 mainly for the devotees and learners of UK and Europe. Other yoga and meditation enthusiasts in Australia have also initiated practice centers or Prayogshalas in Australia. In addition, various gurus and trainees have initiated yoga and meditation activities by combining JV courses with other fellowships of yoga, divinity, and self-realization.
