Jamkhurd Village

Jamkhurd is a village located in the Pombhurna Tehsil of Chandrapur district, in the Nagpur Division of Maharashtra, India. The village is situated approximately 8 kilometers from Pombhurna. Initially, the village used the postal code of Mul city (441224), but now it also uses the postal code of Pombhurna (442701).

The village has a Zilla Parishad Primary School, which provides education from grades 1 to 8.  

Language

The primary language spoken in Jamkhurd is Marathi.  

Historical Background

Before its separation, Jamkhurd was part of the Jamtukum region. Over time, the village's population increased, leading to the establishment of its own Gram Panchayat (village council). Today, the village also includes Jamrayatwadi, a smaller area, due to its lower population.

Religious and Cultural Significance

The majority of the population in Jamkhurd follows Hinduism. A prominent religious site nearby is the Shri Datt Gagangiri Maharaj Temple. Additionally, the Andhari River flows near the village, and it is here that the Triveni Sangam (confluence of three rivers) can be witnessed. Every year, the temple hosts fairs during Datt Jayanti and Maha Shivratri, attracting a large number of visitors.
