Submission declined on 2 August 2024 by SafariScribe (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

James Giles is a British local councillor, political adviser and pro-Palestine activist.
Giles was previously a local journalist, running the Coombe Monthly newspaper. He co-founded Kingston Independent Residents Group (KIRG) in 2017 alongside fellow councillor Mary Clark.[1]
In November 2023, he was suspended from the Local Government Association (LGA) after circulating a petition for a ceasefire in the Gaza war, stating that the names of councillors who declined to sign would be published "in the interest of accountability".[2] This was condemned by the LGA as threatening.[3][4] Giles later said that there was no "intention to publish the names of any individuals against their will."[3][4]
In February 2024, he managed Workers Party candidate George Galloway's successful campaign in the Rochdale by-election, where Galloway unseated the incumbent Labour MP.[5][6] He was also a councillor at this time and led the Kingston Independent Residents Group (KIRG) in Kingston upon Thames London Borough Council.[5]
Giles then ran as the Workers Party candidate for Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North in the general election in July, narrowly losing to Liam Byrne of the Labour Party.[7]
After the election, Giles became chief of staff to Ayoub Khan, the independent MP for Birmingham Perry Barr and advised other pro-Gaza independent MPs elected that year: Shockat Adam, Adnan Hussain and Iqbal Mohamed.[6]
