Humble Brains (Born Tokuibiye, Humble TamunoBelema,) is an Afro-folk/Soul Singer-Songwriter.[1]

Biography

[Humble Brains] was born on 16th April 1993 in Bolo Town, an island in Rivers State, Southern Nigeria. He was born into the family of Sir. Tokuibiye Owutamunopiri, a retired Teacher, and Mrs. Tamunodiepriye Owutamunopiri (nee. Amakiri), a petty trader. Humble Brains had his Primary education partly in Finima, Bonny Island, and then in his hometown (Bolo Town Primary School) in 2003 proceeded to his Secondary School in Community Secondary School, Bolo where he served as the Senior Prefect and was esteemed for his academic prowess in 2009. He is a graduate of Electrical/ Electronics Engineering from the famous Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, where he received a HND in Telecommunications Engineering.

Career

Humble Brains started singing at the age of 5 in Assemblies of God Church (Children's Church), Fininma, Bonny Island. At 10, He was already singing in the adult choir in his home Church (Assemblies of God Church, Bolo). Although his parents are from the Anglican sect, he preferred other genres of music instead of classical music, so he'd rather remain in a Pentecostal Church, for his music to thrive. Humble Brains early musical influences ranged from the Highlife music of Rex Lawson to the Afrobeat of Fela Kuti, the Ijaw folk music of Ama-sé-awò and Osuala, The Blues of Elvis Presley and Louis Armstrong, The contemporary Nigeria folk music of Brymo, Bez Idakula, Asa, Nosa Omoregie, Kenny K'ore and Jeremiah Gyang.Humble Brains picked up the Acoustic Guitar in 2017 to accompany his songwriting and soulful performances which is a lifelong endeavor now as a folk Artist. His debut EP "The Dialogues I Kept" comprising 4 songs was released in October 2024 and has introduced him to the mainstream.[2]
