Hope Central is a Christian church based in South Australia with campuses in Elizabeth South, Gawler, and Salisbury. Founded in 2000 by lead pastors Joe and Jodie Habermehl, the church has grown from a small gathering of 20 people to multiple campuses.

History

[edit]

Hope Central was established in 2000 by Joe and Jodie Habermehl. Initially a small congregation of around 20 people, the church has since expanded to become a part of the Christian community in South Australia. Hope Central has grown significantly and now operates three campuses: in Elizabeth South, Gawler, and Salisbury.

The church also runs community outreach programs, including the Friday night ministry called The Haven, which provides food, support, and community connection for those in need. Additionally, the church is heavily involved in local and international missions, with Joe serving as the chairman of the CRC (Christian Revival Church) for South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory.

Beliefs

[edit]

Hope Central adheres to Christian teachings based on the Bible. The church's key beliefs include:

  • Jesus Transforms – The central goal is to become more like Jesus and demonstrate His love through actions.
  • Jesus is the Word – The Bible is the foundation of their faith, interpreted through the lens of Jesus’ teachings.
  • Building His Kingdom – Hope Central emphasizes the importance of the local church as a place for believers to experience God’s presence and love.

The church also believes in six defining values:

  1. Do Good – Using gifts and talents to bear good fruit.
  2. Live in a Tribe – The importance of community and relationships.
  3. Fight for Justice – Restoring balance in society by advocating for the vulnerable.
  4. Treating Everyone with Dignity – Ensuring respect and value for all people.
  5. Living with Integrity – Aligning with biblical standards of character.
  6. Salvation – Sharing the message of Jesus and building connections to Him.
