Draft:Haswell Yobe Mwale
Mr Haswell Yobe Mwale, born in 1931 and died on March 20, 2010 at UTH. The 4th among 7 children of Yobe and Jessy Mwale (both late).
Was a Member of Parliament, nominated directly by Kenneth Kaunda and served as Minister of Works and Supply from 1983 to 1990. He also reprepresented several constituencies during his politcal career, such as Malambo North, Lundazi Central, Chasefu and Lumezi Constituencies. He was married to Emma Phiri Mwale had 6 children and is survived by 3 of them now.

Some of the great contributions that He made during his service are: 1. Building of the first buildings where Mulungushi Univeristy is now situated as it was a UNIP building prior to being handed back to the state. 2. Saw to it that roads to Lundazi where constructed.

All the civil engineering infrastructure which made Kaunda a name and UNIP, they were all in the hands and supervision of Haswell Yobe Mwale. The man had very sober academic qualifications; he was a man of few words in Parliament but he was a ball of fire. All the years I was in Parliament, there is no any other Minister of Works and Supply I can compare Haswell Mwale to,” said former President Michael Chilufya Sata.
