Gerard Leaf is the stage name of Jesús Gerardo Galván Colmenares (born April 6, 2000, in Jalisco, Mexico), a Mexican musician and producer. He has been active since 2019, combining elements of alternative rock and electronic music in his work.
Biography
[edit]Gerard Leaf was born in Jalisco, Mexico, on April 6, 2000. He began his musical career in 2019, influenced by bands such as Rage Against The Machine and Linkin Park. These influences contributed to his interest in blending rock and electronic sounds in his productions. He produces most of his music independently, handling composition and performance.[1]
Musical Career
[edit]In 2020, Gerard Leaf released his debut album, ENIGMAS. The album, which is no longer available on streaming platforms, marked his introduction to music production and explored experimental sounds.[2]
In 2024, he released his second album, Where Oceans Meet, which includes tracks such as "The Value of Art," "Broken Promises," and "The Ballad of Mr Lemon."[3] During the same year, he released singles such as "Divided Worlds" and "Luna." "Divided Worlds" examines the impact of technology on creativity, while "Luna" takes a more introspective approach.[4]
On October 5, 2024, Gerard Leaf participated in a live interview broadcast on both Facebook Live and the program Fonoteca Indie on Radio Universidad Autlán 102.3 FM, a station belonging to the Universidad de Guadalajara. During the conversation, he discussed topics such as the absence of his debut album ENIGMAS on streaming platforms, the origin of his stage name, and plans for his upcoming album, Kairos // Machinae. The album, currently in production, is expected to explore themes such as the relationship between humanity and technology.[5]
