This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

- Comment: The current references do not demonstrate significant coverage as outlined at WP:SIGCOV - they only have passing mentions of him personally. MolecularPilot 🧪️✈️ 10:11, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: I would recommend that creator add references necessary to support everything in the body, including the film making and filmography sections. CNMall41 (talk) 03:55, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: IMDb is never a reliable source for anything (user edited) and we require significant, in-depth coverage in independent sources to pass WP:GNG. Theroadislong (talk) 17:26, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

Gary Walkow is an American filmmaker. His first feature, The Trouble With Dick, shared the Grand Prize at the 1987 U.S. Film Festival (later renamed to Sundance).
Early life
[edit]Walkow was born on October 7, 1953, in Houston, Texas. He received a B.A. from Wesleyan College in 1975. After working as an editor for industrial films in Houston, he attended USC film school for a semester, then worked as an editor on low-budget films in Hollywood.
Walkow currently resides in Santa Monica, CA. His still photography is represented by London's Millennium Images.[1]
Filmmaking
[edit]After making several short films (including one, Auto-Mates (1978), that was the subject of an American Cinematographer article about the unusual tracking system designed by cinematographer Tom Frei[2]), Walkow wrote and directed his first feature, The Trouble With Dick[3], which screened at the 1987 U.S. Film Festival (later renamed to Sundance)[4] and shared the festival's Grand Prize with Jill Godmilow's Waiting for the Moon[5]. His second feature, Notes from Underground[6] (1995), based on the Dostoevsky novella and starring Henry Czerny and Sheryl Lee, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival[7], and won the Annual Land Grant Prize at the Taos Talking Pictures festival[8]. Walkow's third feature, Beat (2000), was shot in Mexico, and starred Kiefer Sutherland and Courtney Love as William and Joan Burroughs[9][10]. It was released in the U.S. by Lion's Gate.
Walkow's 2009 film Callers was released in 2011 as Ghost Phone: Phone Calls from the Dead, partially re-shot and re-edited, and with direction credited to producer Jeffrey F. Jackson.
In 2017, Walkow made his first feature documentary, Chasing Flavor, about a World Barista Championship competition.[11]
