Elizabeth P. Cutler is an accomplished entrepreneur and investor, best recognized as the co-founder of SoulCycle alongside Julie Rice.[1]. The duo recently founded Peoplehood, an organization committed to improving communication and relationships through hour-long, intentionally guided conversations. [2]
Cutler has lent her expertise as an advisor to organizations such as Crisis Text Line[3], Female Founders Fund[4], and SHOFCO. [5]. In addition, she has invested in several ventures, including By Humankind, Cava, Green Oaks Capital, Gwynnie Bee/CaaStle, Harri, HeyDay, Knowsy, Red Sea Ventures, SoulCycle, SWaN and Legend, Universal Standard, V Files, The Wing, and WTHN. Career
[edit]In 2006, Cutler and Rice launched SoulCycle in the back lobby of an Upper West Side sublet they found on Craigslist in New York City.[7] She served as Co-CEO of the company from 2006 to 2015 and then transitioned to Co-CCO until 2016.[8] Under their leadership, SoulCycle expanded to 60 studios before their departure.[9]
Following their time at SoulCycle, the duo co-founded an advising and investing company, LifeShop, in 2016[10], and co-founded Peoplehood in 2022.[11] They both continue to speak at conferences worldwide.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Raised in the Chicago area[12], Cutler grew up with one sibling and parents involved in real estate and commodities trading.[13] She pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder, focusing on Art History and Religious Studies.[14]
Cutler later relocated to Telluride, CO, where she worked in real estate and practiced Jin Shin Jyutsu acupressure for a decade.[15]
