Established in 2009, Eka Archiving Services (also known as Eka Cultural Resources) is India's first museum and cultural advisory firm. The company provides advisory services for the complexities that arise in cultural and heritage management, and in the handling of a varied range of artifacts that differ in their materiality. These include textile, photographs, paintings, manuscripts, jewelry, ceramics, ivory, glass, wood, stone, metal, etc. The company has provided services to a large and diverse selection of clients such as museums, collectors, institutions and corporates, in India and abroad. The firm, through its focus on material culture, living and intangible heritage, facilitates preservation and promotion of culture.
Background
[edit]Eka Archiving Services was set up in 2009 to respond to the lack of organization within the cultural and heritage industry. The company was co-founded by Pramod Kumar KG and Deepthi Sasidharan..[1]. Pramod Kumar KG is currently listed as the Managing Director, while Deepthi Sasidharan is listed as the Director. With the vacuum of industrial focus on organizational and archival management, there was potential identified within this sector to generate employment opportunities and increase revenue significantly for cultural institutions.[2][3] The company's goal in navigating this sector is to "identify and create key linkages" that would possibly lead to the growth in "tangible and intangible cultural activity", including tourism.[4][5][6] The firm was initially set up as Eka Cultural Resources, which eventually developed into the research arm of Eka Archiving Services, and continues to exist as such. The firm, now, formally operates under Eka Archiving Services for all its activities, including research, archiving, outreach and its other services[7][8]
