Duan Yuan Duan Yuan.[1] is a leading figure among female designers in China's design industry. She is a cross-disciplinary, meditation-inspired designer and interior space designer,[2] specializing in bespoke villa and mansion design, high-end dining spaces, meditation spaces, commercial spaces, real estate project planning, and full-case model room design.

Duan Yuan is recognized as one of the most influential female designers in China's contemporary design scene. She is the only designer holding original shares in Dongyi Risheng Group[3] and has served multiple times as a judge for the "Nest Award."[4]

Additionally, she was invited as the only Chinese female designer to deliver lectures at the "Milan International Furniture Fair" in Italy.[5]

Biography

In 2001, Duan Yuan began studying Buddhism and formally became a disciple under a Tibetan Buddhist Living Buddha in 2005. She has adhered to a vegetarian lifestyle for many years and founded the charitable vegetarian restaurant Wu Zhi Ya Na, which provides free meals to homeless individuals,[6] she joined Dongyi Risheng Group. From 2002 to 2012, she consecutively won the Top 10 Designers in China Award[7] within Dongyi Risheng for ten years and was awarded the Most Return Customers Award. In 2013, she founded the high-end private custom design agency Yuanxi Creative Design Studio[8]

Over her 15 years in the design industry, Duan Yuan has signed confidentiality agreements for private custom villa and mansion designs for high-profile clients. She has successfully completed over 750 private custom villa projects across the country, including:

  • Over 300 projects exceeding 600 square meters.
  • Over 150 projects exceeding 1,000 square meters.
  • Over 20 projects exceeding 2,000 square meters.
  • Over 6 projects exceeding 5,000 square meters.

Additionally, she has designed over 20 large private clubhouses and 10 five-star hotel projects. Her work spans more than 20 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shanxi, Datong, Ordos, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Xiamen, Sichuan, Lijiang, and Sanya, as well as international locations such as South Korea and Canada.

Duan Yuan's designs have been prominently featured in professional magazines, including Fashion Home, Splendid, Home Decoration, and Real Estate, and have been reprinted by thousands of media outlets. She has been a special guest at the Splendid Interior Designer Salon Club and a contributing writer for Home Decoration magazine. Additionally, she has been recognized as a contributing designer for China's ID+C magazine.

Her expertise and influence have led to interviews by major media outlets such as Sina, Sohu, CCTV, BTV, Phoenix TV, and Sun TV.

2024: The project [Shanghai Donglin Seaview · Hexing 1913 Restaurant] won the "Exceptional Restaurant of the Year" award at the 2024 Exceptional Restaurant Festival.

  • 2023: The project Shanghai Donglin Guanhai · Hexing 1913 Restaurant was selected for the "ID Star Design List" and featured in the Best Interior Designers Guide.[9]
  • 2023: Awarded the honorary title of "Creator of Better Living Spaces".[10]
  • 2022: The project Shanghai Donglin Guanhai Restaurant won the NCA New Commercial Space Award – Most Beautiful Theme Restaurant Award.[11]
