Davide Simon Mazzoli (born October 15, 1980) is an Italian-American director.
Biography
[edit]He began his career in 1984 as a sidekick for Mike Bongiorno on shows such as Superflash, Pentatlon, and TeleMike. By the late 1990s, he started working in the family business, which builds theme parks, resort hotels, and casinos. During this time, he participated in the production of various large projects, including Fantasy Kingdom at Gardaland, the Benetton Mini Park, and other major attractions worldwide, serving as set designer, sculptor, and artistic director.
In 2003, he began his experience as a television writer, collaborating on various formats for Mediaset, Sky, MTV, AliceTV, and Cinecittà Entertainment. In 2004, he signed a prime-time format for Rete4, produced by Mediaset and Cinecittà.
Over the years, Mazzoli has also collaborated with the Prada Foundation, serving as artistic director and producer of works such as Synchro System (Upside Down Mushroom Room) by artist Carsten Höller and Turn Into Me by Nathalie Djurberg, a Silver Lion winner at the Venice Biennale.
In 2011, together with his cousin Marco Mazzoli of Radio 105, he wrote the novel Radio-grafia di un Dj che non piace [1], published by Rizzoli. In 2012, he published with Tre60, the new TEA brand of the Mauri Spagnol Publishing Group, the thriller titled Lo Specchio del Male, which was listed among the five recommended thrillers for summer reading in 2012[2]
On November 27, 2012, he published, together with his cousin Marco, the book Non mollare mai! - Sfighe e rivincite dello Zoo di 105[3] with Mondadori.
On November 29, 2013, he published with Sperling & Kupfer the first book of the saga "Le Terre Magiche di Midendhil," titled "La Missione dell'Ultimo Custode"[4], published also in Bulgaria[5], Brazil [6], and the United States[7]. The American publication of Midendhil received the title "IndieReader Approved."[8] The world of Midendhil is developed through a website and other projects [9] From the Midendhil novel, an important night show was created at Mirabilandia[10][11], written and directed by Davide Simon Mazzoli [12][13].
In 2015, he wrote, produced, and directed the feature film On Air - Storia di un successo [14],[15] a film based on the novel Radio-grafia di un Dj che non piace. The film, distributed by Medusa Film S.p.A [16], was released in theaters on December 10, 2015, receiving a positive response from critics.
In July 2016, he won the Best Director award for On Air - Storia di un successo at the 13th edition of the Magna Graecia Film Festival.[17]
In 2021, he returned to the literary scene with the thriller novel Uccidi il Male, published by La Corte Editore.[18]
On February 28, 2023, he published a book titled Otto c**o di Storie, released by Mondadori.[19] He is also the promoter of the Mazzoliverse,[20] a metaverse on the platform The Nemesis, where his new TV format Fight Back: sfida fino all'ultima parola is broadcast.[21].This show is produced by Visionaria Film.
He currently lives in Orlando with his wife Alice and their children.

Television
[edit]He has collaborated on various pilots and TV series. Among these is Psycho - Crimes for Fun[22] conceived, written, and directed by Davide Simon Mazzoli. Produced by Cinecittà and Mediaset, it aired in prime time on Rete 4, starring Remo Girone. In 2015, he founded the company Bic Format, which created the format Eei Eei Ooh, from which ¡Vaya fauna![23] was produced for Telecinco.
