David Lin
[edit]David Lin is an American entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Linvest21, an AI-driven fintech company. Lin is known for his contributions to the integration of artificial intelligence in financial services, leading the development of innovative tools for portfolio management and tax optimization. He has a distinguished career in technology and finance, including leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Early Life and Education
[edit]David Lin was born in Fuzhou, China, and later moved to Beijing during his childhood. In the 1990s, Lin immigrated to New York City, embodying a rags-to-riches narrative typical of Chinese immigrants of the time. He pursued higher education in North America, earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto in 1995. Later, Lin completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Finance at Columbia Business School in 2004.[1][2]
Career
[edit]Early Career
[edit]Lin's early career began in the technology sector at CNBC, where he held the role of Head of Software Development from 1998 to 2001. His work at CNBC helped shape the network's digital presence and technical infrastructure during a crucial growth period for online financial news.[1][2]
JPMorgan Chase & Co.
[edit]Lin's most notable pre-Linvest21 experience came during his 22-year tenure at JPMorgan Chase & Co. He held several senior leadership roles, including:
Chief Technology Officer - Global Quantitative Technology (2001-2014): Lin was instrumental in developing quantitative technologies that facilitated advanced investment strategies and risk management.[1][2]
Head of Technology - Global Beta, Multi-Asset Solutions, and Global Research Technology (2014-2020): He led efforts in advancing quantitative research and multi-asset technology solutions, significantly enhancing the firm's investment capabilities.[1][2]
Chief Technology Officer - Global Investment Platform (2020-2023): Lin oversaw technology for JPMorgan's Global Investment Platform, focusing on streamlining investment processes and integrating advanced data analytics tools.[1][2]
Founding of Linvest21
[edit]David Lin conceived the idea for Linvest21 several years before retiring from his long-standing role at JPMorgan Chase & Co. During his time at the firm, Lin was deeply involved in developing advanced financial technologies. However, he envisioned an agile, AI-driven platform that could transform how institutional clients approach portfolio management and tax optimization. Despite the resources available at JPMorgan, Lin found that the large organizational structure and inherent bureaucracy limited the speed at which new innovations could be implemented. This experience motivated him to pursue his vision independently, leading to the founding of Linvest21 in 2023.[3]
Under Lin's leadership, Linvest21 has quickly positioned itself as a pioneer in the fintech space, introducing products like Agentic CIO, an AI-powered investment platform, and Tax Alpha, an automated tax loss harvesting tool designed to streamline processes for CPAs and RIAs.[4]
