Development

[edit]

In April 2014, Ray Fisher was cast as Cyborg in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Before Fisher was cast as Cyborg, John Boyega was also considered for the role.[1]That October, Warner Bros. announced a film about the character was in development was scheduled to be released on April 3, 2020.[2]

In August 2017, Joe Morton was set to reprise his role as Dr. Silas Stone. That November, Fisher stated the film would specifically focus on Cyborg, and that the production team and cast would be diverse. [3]

In August 2018, Morton stated that he believed cut Justice League scenes involving Cyborg were going to be reworked into the film, though he was not aware when production would begin. Fisher expressed interest in Zack Snyder to direct the film.[4] In December 2018, the film was delayed from its April 3, 2020 release date.[5]

In December 2020, Fisher accused Joss Whedon of "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable conduct on the set of Justice League". [6]He later confirmed that he will no longer portray the character while president Walter Hamada is in charge of DC Films, calling him a "liar and enabler". [7]

In January 2021, it was confirmed that the film is still in development, but without Fisher.[8][9]
