Crayon Data is an artificial intelligence company headquartered in Singapore[1] with a development center in Chennai[2], and Dubai.
History
[edit]The company was founded in 2012[3] by Suresh Shankar[4][5][3][6][7], Aarti Ramakrishnan, Vijaya Kumar Ivaturi[6][8], and Srikant Sastri.
Investors in the company include Ratan Tata[9][10][11][6] and Kris Gopalakrishnan.[12][6]
William Bissell and Jungle Ventures[6] have also invested in the company. Bissell had participated in a second round funding in September 2013 that raised $1.4 million.[7] The company raised bridge funding from Mitsui in 2016.[13] In 2018, the company raised 8.7 crore rupees in a second round of funding.[14]
Product
[edit]The company's main product is its AI-led personalization platform called maya.ai.
In 2023, the company announced a partnership with Visa whereby Visa card issuers can offer personalized services to their customers using the AI capabilities of maya.ai.[15][16]
Awards & recognition
[edit]In 2021, Crayon Data won in a partner category, Huawei Technologies Co. Spark, in a Singapore start-up competition called Slingshot. The government agency that organized the global competition is called Startup SG and the global start-up competition was started in 2017.[17]
It features in a 2022 list of India's most promising Data Science companies.[18] Crayon Data features in 2023 lists of India's Top 10 Business Intelligence companies and Digital Marketing agencies.[19][20]
It won the Mint Startup Icon Award for 2023 in the 2nd edition of the Award. The company won the Award in the SaaS category.[21]
