Submission declined on 17 June 2024 by Jamiebuba (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by Jamiebuba 6 months ago. |
Submission declined on 17 June 2024 by Flemmish Nietzsche (talk). Your submission is good, however based on your similar username to the channel name of this individual, "Dear Modern", I think you may have a conflict of interest. If so, please properly state it, as outlined in the message on your talk page, and then re-request review. Declined by Flemmish Nietzsche 6 months ago. |

Cliff Tan (born 13 Janurary 1988) is a Singaporean architect and feng shui practitioner based in London, England.[1]
He is most widely known on social media channels TikTok,[2] Instagram and Youtube under the channel, Dear Modern, where he posts a range of educational and comedic content focusing on feng shui, architecture and interior design.
Tan has written a book on feng shui, Feng Shui Modern, published in 2022 and has been translated into 5 different languages as of 2024.
Career
[edit]Tan graduated from the Architectural Association, he worked for Thomas Heatherwick [3] before starting his own design firm, Dear Modern in 2016 which focused on small residential projects. Tan created a self led project to redesign the Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore) system map. This attracted much local media attention.[4]
In 2019 when the COVID-19 pandemic started, Tan travelled to Singapore to visit family, and was quarantined in at the Swissôtel The Stamford for two weeks.[5] It was in his hotel room that he started his channel on TikTok educating people on the principles of Feng Shui under the channel name Dear Modern.[6] Tan focuses on the aspect of 'form' feng shui, which is more intuitive and about flow and energy of the space which he says should take precedence over 'compass' feng shui. [7][8][9] Amidst increased media attention, Bloomsbury Publishing approached him to write a book.[10]
He published Feng Shui Modern the following year and has since published 4 more language versions, in Hebrew, Dutch, Spanish and French.[11] [12] [13]
In addition to this practice, Tan had worked on projects on the Metaverse, with McDonald’s appointing him as a designer along with fashion designer Humberto Leon for their 2022 Lunar New Year Hall of Zodiacs pavilion.[14]
