Chester A. Patterson was a nationally known architect whose style was tied to the Colonial Revival movement. A number of his other designs have been entered into the National Register of Historic Places, including Soundview Manor in New York, renovations of the Van der Veer - Harris House in New Jersey, the Venezuelan Ambassador’s Residence in Washington, D.C., and the Blandford estate house in Florida. His work and designs were often included in publications such as Architectural Record, Architectural Forum, The Architect, House & Garden, Country Life, and many national newspapers.
House at Pelham, N. Y Chester Patterson 43
4520 Delafield Avenue
This Tudor Revival style house, distinguished in part by its stucco-coated façade, steeply pitched gable roofs, false half-timbering, and Tudor-arch-headed main entrance door surround, is representative of the residential architecture built during the period in which the Fieldston neighborhood was being developed with homes in a variety of picturesque styles following the strict design guidelines of the Fieldston Property Owners Association. Designed by C.A. Patterson for Dr. Nathan Relkin, the house remains largely intact today.
From 1919 to at least 1940, Chester A. Patterson maintained an office in Manhattan. He designed a small house in Shoreham, N.Y. that was featured in House and Garden magazine. In Fieldston, he designed a Tudor Revival-style house in 1924-28.[1]
Patterson King Corp.
[edit]This is an original 1922 color print of Patterson King Homes with detail and unique artistry in design from the Patterson King Corp. located in New York.[2]
"The distinctive charm of Patterson King homes is due to the rare artistry in design and the careful detailing of every architectural feature. Yet the cost of labor and materials of a Patterson King house is no more than in a building of commonplace appearance.
An architectural design by Patterson King will invariably increase the dollars and cents value of a building in excess of the total architectural fees involved.
The construction of buildings designed by Patterson King may also be handled at the option of the client, by the Patterson King Construction Department, a building organization competent to handle every phase of construction, from Sketch to Occupancy."
