Bryan Christopher Moss is an American artist, muralist, illustrator, educator, and creative director based in Columbus, Ohio. With a career spanning over two decades, Moss is recognized for his distinctive paintings, comic art, and contributions to arts education. In 2024, he created artwork for Nigerian artist Rema's Grammy-nominated album, HEIS.

== Early Life and Education == Bryan Christopher Moss was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He developed an early interest in art, particularly inspired by comic books and storytelling. Primarily self-taught, he began his professional career at 18, working on storyboards and comics. During this time, he founded a T-shirt company called Strange Things.[1]

Fine Art and Exhibitions

Moss's work has been showcased in various venues. In 2022, he held his first solo exhibition, About Time: The Art of Bryan Moss, at the Columbus Museum of Art.[2] His paintings have also been featured in exhibitions at Harvard University, MAC Worthington, and Art/Space Lima.[3]

Comic Art and Illustration

Moss has made contributions to comic art, including his graphic novel, The Eightfold Path, written by Steve Barnes and Charles Johnson and published by Abrams ComicArts in 2022.[4] He is also working on a children's comic series titled Rita's Dream. Additionally, Moss has contributed to projects for Marvel Comics and curated The Black Panther: Celebrating 50+ Years of Black Superheroes for the King Arts Complex.[3]

Murals and Public Art

Moss has created murals and public artworks throughout Columbus, including a collaboration with White Castle and Coca-Cola to design collectible cups and a mural for White Castle's headquarters.[5]

Collaboration with Rema

In 2024, Moss worked with Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper Rema (musician) on the album Heis (album). Moss was responsible for the album's artwork and contributed to the visual elements of its music videos. HEIS was nominated for a Grammy Award, raising Moss's profile in the global art scene.[6]

Teaching and Mentorship

Moss has taught at institutions such as the Columbus College of Art & Design and the Columbus Museum of Art. He conducts workshops on character design and comic book layout, inspiring and mentoring emerging artists.[7]

Residencies and Recognitions

In 2020, Moss was named an artist-in-residence at the Aminah Robinson House in Columbus, Ohio.[7] He was also recognized as Columbus's Best Comic Book Artist in 2020.[1]
