Athletic philanthropic projects
[edit]52 Half Marathons in 52 Weeks After Open-Heart Surgery
[edit]From January 2012 - January 2013, De Lucia ran 52 half marathons in 52 weeks,[9][10] after open-heart surgery for a rare case of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome,[11] raising money for the charity Broadway Impact, in support of marriage equality.[12][13] She ran in 13 different states, and completed one half marathon on crutches after sustaining a sprained ankle in a half marathon the week prior.[14]
When it came to responses to the project: when talking about her 52 half marathon project Cory Booker said she "blows him away."[15] De Lucia also won the Spirt Award, meant to "recognize individuals who inspire and embody perseverance and strength," from the Columbus Marathon.[16] Additionally, she was featured as a "life changer" in Women's Running Magazine, in the May 2013 issue.[17]
When asked how she would celebrate the end of her project, repeated the oft-quoted line, "I'm going to Disney World!"[18] as she ran her last race of the series in Orlando Florida.[19][20]
At the end of her 52 half marathons, Keepsake Theme Quilts, a quilting company promoting diversity and hiring nearly all deaf workers, made her a quilt of her 52 shirts from her various races.[21] CNN'S HLN named her the "True Champion of the Day."[22]
Project 882
[edit]From January 2017 - January 13, 2018, De Lucia ran "Project 882" - 882 race miles in a year to represent the 882 Americans sexually assaulted every day.[23]
During her project, she appeared as a panelist on the Dr Oz show to talk about sexual abuse.[24] De Lucia received a letter from Hillary Clinton, supporting her in Project 882.[25]
Game show(s) contestant
[edit]De Lucia has appeared on multiple games shows. She won a car (plus $96) on The Price is Right[26][27] after using the $1 over strategy bid in contestants' row (to secure a set of camcorders).[28] De Lucia's experience has been featured in a number of publications to help explain various rules and how taxes work on game show winnings.[29]
On Wheel of Fortune, she won a trip to Barbados.[30][31] De Lucia was the winning player of her episode. However, she went viral for being "hilariously devastated"[32] at losing the Bonus Round.[33]
She was zonked on Let's Make a Deal.[34][35]

Personal life
[edit]Aurora De Lucia is from Los Angeles, California.[36]
While an undergraduate student at Berklee College of Music, she passed out during a class, which led to her being diagnosed with a rare form of Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome; after several semesters full of many failed ablations and medications, plus complications (such as a blood clot on her heart), she had open-heart surgery.[13][14]
In 2015, she moved to New York for her job on The Nightly Show with no notice; De Lucia lived in California and while she was in New York for the interview, the interviewer said if she wanted the job, she had to start the next day. So, she called her current boss in California and quit, extended her initially one-night hotel stay in New York, went shopping for more clothes, and took the job.[37]
