Devin Royal is an American college basketball player for the Ohio State Buckeyes of the Big Ten Conference.
Early life and high school
[edit]Royal attended Pickerington High School Central located in Pickerington, Ohio.[1] In Royal's junior season, he averaged 19.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists and was named first-team all-state, as he led his school to a State Title.[2] During Royal's senior season of high school, he named the Ohio Mr. Basketball.[3] Coming out of high school, Royal was rated as a four-star recruit, where he held offers from schools such as Michigan State, Marquette, Penn State, Alabama, and Ohio State.[4][5] Ultimately, Royal decided to commit to play college basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes.[6][7]
College career
[edit]On February 25, 2024, Royal had a breakout game leading the Buckeyes in scoring with 14 points, while also adding two rebounds, and two steals, as he helped the Buckeyes to a win over the Michigan State Spartans.[8] Royal finished his first collegiate season during the 2023–24 season, appearing in 33 games, where he averaged 11.2 minutes, 4.7 points and 2.4 rebounds.[9][10] On November 19, 2024, Royal had a career performance, recording his first career double-double, totaling 20 points and 12 rebounds, in a blowout win over the Evansville Purple Aces.[11]
