David Robert Baden-Powell, 5th Baron Baden-Powell, 5th Baronet (born 6 January 1971) (known as Dave Baden-Powell) is an Australian data analyst and an active member of the Scout Movement.[1][2][3][4]

Baden-Powell is the son of David Michael Baden-Powell, 4th Baron Baden-Powell, and Joan Berryman. He succeeded to the barony following the death of his father in 2023.[2] Baden-Powell is also the great-grandson of the founder of World Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell, and his wife Olave Baden-Powell, World Chief Guide.

Early life and education

David Baden-Powell was born in Melbourne; he was educated at Carey Baptist Grammar School where he received his Victorian Certificate of Education. After completing secondary schooling, Baden-Powell attended La Trobe University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Physics. Baden-Powell continued his studies at Swinburne University of Technology, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Sociology, Media, Politics and Economics.[1][5]

Since 2010, Baden-Powell has been employed by the Australian recruitment website SEEK in various roles across QA with his current role in the Ontology team, which he has held since 2017.[1]

Scouting involvement

Baden-Powell has been a member of the Scouts Victoria where he is a venturer leader at the 4th Brunswick Scout group in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick, where his children Charley and Max are active members[5][6]

Baden-Powell is a keen supporter of international scouting and has attended several international jamborees in Korea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, China and the United Kingdom, receiving the International Friendship Award from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Jade Lion Award from the Boy Scouts of China (Taiwan).[5][6]

Personal life

Baden-Powell married Edwina Sophie Foster, daughter of Graham Foster, in February 2001, and they have two children:[6][4]

Baden-Powell's son Max is the Heir apparent to the Baden-Powell Barony.
