Daisy Hildyard

Daisy Hildyard is an English novelist.

Her debut novel, Hunters in the Snow, won the 2014 Somerset Maugham Award,[1] and her next novel, Emergency, won the 2023 Encore Award, given for a second novel.[2] Her essay The Second Body (2017) has een described as "an essay on the Anthropocene".[3] She has also been published in The New Yorker,[4] Granta,[3] The New York Review of Books,[5]

She was born in North Yorkshire. She gained a first-class degree at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University, in 2003, and then studied for a doctorate in early modern scientific literature at Queen Mary, University of London. She is married to writer Caleb Klaces (winner of a 2012 Eric Gregory Award[6]); they have a daughter, born 2014, and they live in North Yorkshire.[7][8]
