Chelsea Green and Piper Niven are a villainous professional wrestling tag team. They are currently signed to WWE, where they perform on the SmackDown brand. Green is the inaugural and current Women's United States Champion in her first reign. They are also former one-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.

History

Formation and Women's Tag Team Champions (2023–2024)

[edit]

On the July 17, 2023 episode of Raw, Green and then-partner Sonya Deville defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.[1] On August 7, however, Deville was reported to have suffered an ACL injury and had to relinquish her half of the tag team title.[2] On the August 14 episode of Raw, despite Green wanting to hold auditions for a new tag team partner, a returning Piper Niven took one half of the tag team titles and declared she would be Green’s new partner. Although Green has touted herself as a two-time champion, WWE recognizes this change as a continuation of Green's original title reign with Deville, ending Green's reign with Deville at 28 days.[3][4]

On October 31 at Night 2 of NXT: Halloween Havoc, Green and Niven defeated Chase University (Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne) to successfully retain their titles.[5] On December 11 it was announced that Green and Niven would defend their tag team titles against new number one contenders Kayden Carter and Katana Chance.[6] The following week on Raw, Green and Niven lost the tag team titles to Carter and Chance, ending their reign at 126 days and Green's individual reign at 154 days.[7] On the January 8, 2024 episode of Raw, Green and Niven were unsuccessful in an attempt to regain the titles in a rematch.[8]

SmackDown (2024–present)

[edit]

At Night 2 of the 2024 WWE Draft, Green and Niven were drafted to the SmackDown brand.[9] Green made a surprise appearance at Week 2 of Spring Breakin' on April 30 where she was announced as NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez's next title challenger, but failed to defeat Perez the following week.[10][11] At Clash at the Castle: Scotland on June 15, Niven faced Bayley for the WWE Women's Championship, but was unsuccessful despite interference from Green.[12] At Money in the Bank on July 6, Green competed in the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match in her home country of Canada, but the match was won by Tiffany Stratton.[13][14] On November 2 at Crown Jewel, Green and Niven completed in a fatal four-way tag team match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a losing effort.[15]

Green and Niven subsequently entered the tournament to crown the inaugural Women's United States Champion. Niven was eliminated by Michin in the first round, while Green defeated Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport in a triple threat match in the first round,[16] Bayley in the semifinals, and Michin in the finals at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14 to become the inaugural Women's United States Champion.[17]
