Smitha Bhandare Kamat She is an educationist, cartoonist, and columnist based in Goa. She started cartooning for Goa's oldest newspaper O Heraldo in 2009 then moved on to other publications like Goa Today, Evescape, Goan Varta etc. She has participated in international cartooning events garnering innumerable awards and recognitions for her contributions. She has coverage in international media houses such as le Crayon(France), The Academy of Italian Championship of Lies (Italy), ToonsMag (Norway) Birkitapbindost (Turkey), etc. In 2017 she had her first cartoon exhibition at the Indian Institute of Cartoonists, Bengaluru and her book of cartoons titled ' With a pinch of salt' was released. To date she has shared over a thousand of her works on her social media handles.She is recipient of the prestigious Best Teacher State Award from Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa (2017); she has also been felicitated for her contribution in academics, cartooning, and literature by Lokmat, Rotary Club, Pinkishe Foundation, Giant Group of Companies etc. Kamat holds a doctorate degree and has completed an online certificate course at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.
