The battle of Katselovo, also known as the battle of Katselova, Kacjelovo, or Kacjelova, took place in and around the Ottoman village of Katselovo on 5 September 1877 during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878.
Battle
[edit]The Ottoman forces were led by Mehmed Ali Pasha, whilst the Russians were under the general command of Tsesarevich Aleksandr Romanov. The battle resulted in the Ottomans pushing the Russian army from Katselovo to Gorsko Ablanovo following heavy clashes. Once Mehmed Ali Pasha reached Ablanovo, he managed to repulse the counterattack efforts of Alexey Timofeev and dislodged the Russians from the village by 6 September.[3][4]
